See earlier entry on this race.

... I was to run 3 miles on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. With the red-eye to RDU on Sunday, full days on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, and the red-eye back to SFO on Wednesday night, I did not run again till Friday. Travel really kills a training plan.

Friday: 11/11/2005 @ 6:36a US/PT
Total Distance: 3.98 mi, Total Time: 40:05, Avg Pace: 10:04/mi Avg Speed: 6.0 mph, Total Calories: 421 cal, Avg Heart Rate: 164 bpm

A wild day. Mid run I got really light headed and stopped at one of the buildings on campus. I actually had to lay down to get back to normal. I finished my run no problem and chalk the light-headedness up to lack of sleep as I'd been up since 4am due to my timezone hopping this week.

Saturday: 11/12/2005 @ 7:21a US/PT
Total Distance: 8.77 mi, Total Time: 1:31:32, Avg Pace: 10:26/mi Avg Speed: 5.7 mph, Total Calories: 962 cal, Avg Heart Rate: 164 bpm

Great run! Despite being up at 4am today as well, this was a good day. Last night I read an article on finishing a marathon feeling good that recommended running the second half of out and backs faster than the first to ingrain the technique for raceday. I kept my average pace at 10:11/mi for the four miles out and ran an average pace of 9:23/mi back. It was the easiest long run I've ever had. With this in mind, I'm going to try planning my splits for the marathon and practicing them during my long runs.
