Michelle's Marathon Training Log: Week 6

Tuesday: 11/22/2005
Total Distance: 5.52 mi, Total Time: 53:26, Avg Pace: 09:40/mi Avg Speed: 6.2 mph, Total Calories: 567 cal, Avg Heart Rate: 165 bpm

After an exhausting weekend, I skipped my Monday run and started with the Tuesday run. I planned to, and did, get the mileage in on a day of rest later in the week.

Wednesday: 11/23/2005 - ESTIMATE
Total Distance: 2.55 mi, Total Time: 51:18, Avg Pace: 11:17/mi Avg Speed: 5.3 mph, Total Calories: 489 cal, Avg Heart Rate: 130 bpm

...getting lazy with the Garmin. I forgot to stop the clock and my stats include the drive home from the trail. Mileage adjusted, everything else left as recorded. I did run very slow this day as I took my beagle Ivy with me. She's not exactly in shape and is very easily distracted by all the nifty smelling things along the trail...

Thursday: 11/24/2005
Total Distance: 6.91 mi, Total Time: 1:07:41, Avg Pace: 09:47/mi Avg Speed: 6.1 mph, Total Calories: 760 cal, Avg Heart Rate: 162 bpm

Just long enough to feel like I'd gotten in some meaningful exercise before the food fest at my sister's house. We did bring along reasonable food and in the end, I stayed right on plan with my consumption.

Friday: 11/25/2005 - ESTIMATE
Total Distance: 12.72 mi, Total Time: 2:10:43, Avg Pace: 10:16 /mi Avg Speed: 5.8 mph, Total Calories: 1411 cal, Avg Heart Rate: 159 bpm

More operator error with the Garmin. I forgot to reset it after the Friday run, so the numbers above actually cover Friday and Saturday.

Saturday: 11/26/2005 - ESTIMATE

See Friday. :) I've been trying to run slowly on my long runs. My target pace for the marathon is 10:47 /mi. I've gotten good at holding steady at 9:47 /mi -- more practice needed on pacing.
